FAQ's

How long will it take to groom my dog?

As I am getting to know your dog and vice versa, on average in the beginning it will take 2-2.5 hours. I will let you know when you arrive to drop off your woofie how long I will expect your dogs pamper session to be.

Do you just groom pedigree dogs?

No, many of my poochie customers are complete pavement specials (mixed breeds). Your dog will be pampered regardless of his breed or breeds and I will trim and style him to your lifestyle needs.

 Are you trained?

Absolutely, I have been trained at Fir Tree Kennels in Sale, Manchester.  Ultimately I shall groom your dog how you want it done, be it breed standard or just to accommodate your lifestyle.

Can I stay with my dog?

In the beginning you are more than welcome to stay with your dog, however once your dog and I get to know eachother better I find it much easier to groom without any distractions as I groom one dog at a time. Dogs tend to behave better when they cannot see owners. I am a trained behaviourist and will give your pooch lots of breaks between grooming if I see him or her starting to get uncomfortable. Ultimately I want to make grooming a pleasurable experience for them. I am experienced at handling all kinds of breeds & characters, and will not charge extra for the ones who are a little more aggressive.

How often does my dog need grooming?

This depends on what breed your dog is and style you want your dog to have. Typically every 6-8 weeks for styled dogs. In between grooms it is important that you continue to brush regularly to avoid matts and tangles.

My dog just needs a bath and a pedicure, not a full groom - do you do this?

With pleasure, many customers just want a quick wash inbetween full grooms to either freshen up. Some clients also just want a wash, dry and nail trim as their woofs are really short haired or because they just want a wash if they have become a little smelly. A luxurious bath, fluff dry and nail clip start from £15.

My dog's coat is very matted, why has this happened?

Some breeds have coats that are very high maintenance and if not brushed regularly form mats. Mats can be very difficult to remove and left untouched can cause your dog great discomfort by pulling on his skin or becoming infected. A matted dog is a prisoner in its own fur. We do not charge for the removal of light mats but if your dog is heavily matted it will take us extra time to remove them which will incur an extra charge. It may not be possible to remove the mats without shaving your dog but we will do all we can to avoid this though we must stress that we will not attempt to remove matts if it will cause your dog any discomfort. If your dog does need to be shaved we  will of course speak to you before doing this. We will then help you make sure that your dog does not get matted again.

Will you put my dog in a cage?

I have 2 very large crates and will put your dog in the crate when I am done grooming and tidying up for safety reasons and to comply with the Animal Welfare Act I cannot let your hound run about in the shop. At no point will your dog be out of our sight. Most of the time though your dog will be having his groom and be with us. He will however be secured at all times.

Do I have to make an appointment?

Yes please as I offer free collection and drop offs I may need to take a some woofs home before your appointment which is why I manage my diary. Although my appointment book is happily quite full I will always try to be as accommodating as possible.

What happens if I can't make my appointment?

Please let me know via a phonecall or an sms, and we can re-schedule your appointment for your next earliest convenience, I will not charge you a cancellation fee as I know these things happen.
